Gardone Val Trompia is a slab of concrete at the bottom of a narrow valley:
Val Trompia is a string of urban centers born around factories during a time of uncontrolled industrialization.

Jack is twenty-eight and was born, raised, and still lives in the valley. He has a temporary job, a mother who retired at thirty-two, and an older brother who moved to the Milan suburbs to work as a factory laborer. Jack’s father passed away when he was only three years old, back when everyone still knew him as Jessica.

Now, Jack has decided to begin his female-to-male transition, to finally become who he has always felt himself to be: a man.

Amid a routine of odd jobs, bar friends, and a few distractions, Jack begins to question what it means — beyond the body — to be a man, and what kind of man he wants to be. He starts to challenge the models of masculinity offered by the valley he lives in.
